Disney to Offer Sneak Peeks of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil for Limited Time
Princess Aurora’s multifaceted “fairy godmother” is back in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil this fall and for a limited time, Disney is treating guests to select scenes from the film before its release.
Beginning September 27th, visitors to the Disneyland Resort can get a glimpse of the dark fairies’ new feature after evening performances of Mickey’s PhilharMagic in the Sunset Showcase Theater at Disney California Adventure Park and guests in Orlando can catch the preview during Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Viewings will also be available to guests of the Disney Cruise Line.
Anti-hero, villain, or something else entirely? Maleficent, the 2014 film directed by Robert Stromberg and written by Linda Woolverton, unraveled and re-imagined one of Disney’s most infamous characters. The retelling of Sleeping Beauty from this unique and horned point of view allowed audiences to take a rare look at Maleficent's pure heart and its inevitable destruction, and created a more complex relationship with Princess Aurora, consequently questioning her status as strictly 'wicked'.
In Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Angelina Jolie reprises her title role and is joined by Michelle Pfeiffer as antagonist Queen Ingrith of Ulstead (future mother in law of Princess Aurora) as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor portraying a dark fairy leader. Human and fae worlds clash as bonds are questioned, new alliances are formed, and dark motives are brought to light.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be soaring into theaters starting October 18th with advance tickets already available for purchase. Get excited for your journey back to the Moors with the official trailer below.
